Blogger Otabek Ahliddinov was imprisoned for 7.1 years
Blogger Otabek Ahliddinov was sentenced to 7.1 years in prison by the Andijan regional court on criminal cases. Otabek Ahliddinov was accused of committing the crime provided for in Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Otabek Ahliddinov worked as a department head of the central polyclinic in Shahrikhan district of Andijan region. According to the indictment, Otabek was accused of embezzling more than 200 million soums.
The blogger was arrested in September of this year. Initially, he was sentenced to 5.1 years in prison by the Khanabad district court in criminal cases. Then, based on the protest of the prosecutor’s office, the appellate court reconsidered the case and extended the term to 7.1 years. In the judicial system, the extension of the term by the appellate court is not always a phenomenon.
Otabek Ahliddinov was a member of the human rights society “Ezgulik” of Uzbekistan. Our activists were not able to participate in the investigation and court proceedings of Otabek according to the wishes of his family members. He was brought to Toshturma today to be sent to the penitentiary. The lawyers put their hope in the cassation instance of the Supreme Court.
Let the problem be easy! We call on the Supreme Court to follow the principles of justice and humanism.
(Finally, we received a copy of the ruling. According to this document, Article 165 is also included in liability)
